According to AMD, the AMD Radeon HD GPU series 7000 currently does not support the Application Programming Interface (API) DirectX 11.2. It is caused by changes in the final specification of the programming framework, which was not anticipated by AMD.

AMD engineers Laylah Mah told the German magazine c't Magazin that the AMD HD 7000 series GPUs and the current 8000 does not support DirectX 11.2 API at the level of software and drivers. Laylah Mah said series graphics cards are capable of supporting DirectX 11.2 via driver updates in the future.

Currently, AMD Radeon 8000 GPU series promoted by some devices such as the Samsung Series 7 Ultrabook. AMD Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) technology, Kabini, also carrying the same integrated GPU series. Kabini architecture using Graphics Core Next (GCN) which was first introduced in conjunction with the launch of AMD's HD 7900 series GPUs. DirectX 11.2 API is available exclusively for Windows 8.1 and Xbox One. This latest version of DirectX present some new features that will be appreciated by game developers.
