According to the German news site, Horizont , EYeo - developer of popular Adblock Plus extension for Chrome and Firefox - have been accused of receiving payments from Google and unnamed companies to get into the white list (whitelist) "Acceptable Ads". So ads, banners and pop-ups from companies that pay will not be blocked by Adblock.

Report quoted by Horizont not mention how much money is paid to Google and other companies EYeo to obtain the privilege. Adblock Plus on the official website states clearly that such a white list does exist (since 2011) and is offered free of charge to smaller websites - which relies on advertising to survive. EYeo also stated that the ads do not interfere with the user still allowed or not blocked.

EYeo states have reasons charge for special treatment. "Managing a white list requires significant effort and the task can not be left solely to the volunteers," said the FAQ. "That's why we get paid from large companies with ads that do not interfere."
